What makes them more popular is the fact that they are not as expensive as the other materials that lenses are made of. The downside of these glass lenses is that they are breakable and also weigh more than those made of other materials. For making them durable they have to have heat treatment.

This decrease in the glare spares the eyes from the jarring light and protects them while making the light more comfortable. Apart from the comfort level of the user tinted lenses make a fashion statement too. Most lenses like those made of plastic or glass have a safety coating which protects the eyes from the UV rays. While one is outside it is necessary to protect one’s eyes from the ultra violet rays of the sun. Coating the lenses with this protection does not make them scratch proof.
High Index plastic is used for making the prescription glasses and this absorbs the UV rays also. Unlike the glass lenses this is much lighter and more comfortable to wear. Unlike the glass lenses these are rather expensive and are not scratch proof either. The lightest lenses are made of resin plastic but do not protect the eyes from ultra violet rays like the other lenses do.
While choosing the prescription glasses it is mainly up to the user to choose ones which are most comfortable for them and these will be the ideal ones. While making the choice apart from user comfort the buyer has to think of the cost of the glasses and whether it suits their budget. A lot depends on the user’s lifestyle and what would suit them best. If the person is very fashion conscious and wants to wear something which is “in” they will have to consider the shape and color, while if the person is using the prescription glasses mainly for protection of their eyes they will have to go in for the best eye protection lenses. Cost and comfort are the two main factors while choosing one’s prescription glasses. |
